Description
Anti-Yperite bag was used to hold the gas cape (Gasplane). Yperite was a heavy gas that slowly laid on the ground surface.
The cape protected the wearer against the effects of the gas. The gas cape pouch has two loops at the backside, where the gasmask shoulder strap was put through.
The official way for the gas cape pouch to be worn was on the chest but lot of soldiers strapped the gas cape pouch to the gas mask canister with mess tin or tornister straps
There were 2 types of gas cape bags .Cloth ones and the early rubberized pouches. Both cloth and rubberized types were produced throughout the war.
The original German gas cape pouch colors varied from black, green, chickpea or even dark brown.
