The skull was worn on German WW1 and WW2 Caps, Schirmmütze Visor Caps, side caps and M43 type caps
This badge was worn between the cap eagle and cap wreath or cockade on the German caps
This private purchase early version German Brunswick badge was used prior to WW1, during WW1 and into WW2.
The Braunschweig pattern Totenkopf is made of heavy metal and finished in a silver wash coating .
In WW2 the skull badge was worn by various units of Infantry regiment 17 and by some units of the Reiter-regiment 13 and all units of the 41’st Cavalry regiment from the 4th Cavalry Division.
Before and during WWI the Totenkopf skull badge was worn by Braunschweigisches Infanterie-Regt. Nr.92. and Braunschweigisches Husaren-Regt. Nr.17 (Brunswick Hussar Regiment 17 – Cavalry Regiment).
