Description
This Luftwaffe enlisted man’s Tropical North Africa visor cap, also referred to as a Hermann Meyer cap, is a khaki-tan cotton with the band being semi-stiff to give the cap shape. Each side of the cap top presents two eyelets for ventilation. The cap includes a neck flap attached to the cap by three metal buttons at the rear base of the cap band A soft thin, black leather chinstrap rests on the visor, attached to the cap by two buttons. The insignia consists of a machine-woven Luftwaffe-style eagle and a standard machine-embroidered wreathed cockade.
The interior of the cap shows the typical red lining with maker mark: FAB FABRIK ALDER BERG.
This particular example is the earliest know variant of the classic visor caps worn in the North African theater.
